Whether you are an OEM, private label or contract manufacturer, managing multiple product sources and manufacturers for individual component parts is a critical factor in determining profits, productivity and product quality. Each time you negotiate an agreement with a new vendor, you need to be able to track and manage your orders with that vendor. Finding a way to automate the management of your complex parts purchasing process and sharing that information in real time, across your enterprise, can be the key to managing material costs and improving your bottom line.
Just as a chain is only as strong as its weakest link, the quality of your product is only as good as the quality of the parts that comprise it. The Component Management module from Mobyz can turn your complex parts purchasing process into a seamless, automated function of your operations. Adding essential functionality to your Baan ERP system, the Component Management module provides the information you need and ensures you have the right part - made with the right components, from the right supplier, on hand when your business demands it. It's that simple.
Flexible Control
Administering multiple contracts for multiple parts - each one providing the same fit and function, and each associated with a different cost and availability, can be truly complex. Adding reference to factors such as specification, previous consumption, quality standards, and vendor status further complicates this process.
The Component Management module from Mobyz automatically links planned and actual Purchase Orders to the approved supplier or manufacturer's list for those parts. Whether the Purchase Orders are created manually or generated by your planning system, the Component Management module adheres to your business rules and priorities. Key business rules including assignment of ASL combinations based on priority, percentage, order lead time and lowest quoted price further enhance the flexibility. Together, these features provide the necessary control to maximize your vendor relationships.
And by assigning preferred status, you can automatically assign a specific manufacturer's or supplier's part to a Purchase Order for a particular item. Approval combinations can be assigned with effectivity dates and can be activated and deactivated as required. Additionally, manufacturer part numbers or supplier part numbers can be shown on the purchase order to minimize opportunities for error in shipping and receiving.
Automated Tracking
Once sourced, tracking and reporting on the distribution of parts and components by each vendor can be equally challenging. The Component Management module for Baan makes this easy. Allowing you to track and record assignments throughout Baan. From RFQ, purchase receipts and warehouse inventory levels, the module also tracks the last Purchase Order, date, quantity and price per supplier or manufacturer combination, and records the cumulative quantity ordered for the period.
Seamless Integration
The Component Management module extends the functionality of Baan ERP, by linking the standard Baan item, the manufacturer or supplier part number and the vendor. Additional descriptors like unit price, contract number, priority and effectivity dates are also stored within Component Management.
After the planned Purchase Orders have been generated, you can easily link them using the Component Management module. Once linked, these parts can be tracked through purchasing and receiving processes right to the warehouse -where the approved supplier / approved manufacturer information can be viewed by item, lot and location.
